Bangladesh under-19 women suffered a six-wicket defeat to Pakistan under-19 women in the fourth match of their five-match T20 series, leaving the series tied 2-2 ahead of the final, decisive encounter.
After winning the toss and opting to field, Pakistan struggled early as Bangladesh’s openers put on 22 runs in 18 balls. Sumaiya Akter Suborna scored 20 off 21 deliveries with three boundaries before becoming the first wicket to fall, while partner Sadia Nusrat added 12 from 14 balls, also including three fours.
Captain Sadia Islam managed just six runs from 10 balls, but a stabilising partnership followed between Achena Jannat Suchana and Maimuna Nahar. They put on 48 runs in 42 balls, with Suchana contributing 35 from 34 deliveries including four boundaries, and Maimuna scoring 24 from 33 balls. Bangladesh finished their 20 overs on 126 for seven. Rozina Akram and Memuna Khalid took two wickets each for Pakistan.
Chasing 127, Pakistan got off to a flying start with 33 runs from 17 balls in their opening stand. Habiba Islam Pinky broke the partnership by bowling Komal Khan, followed by Zarin Tasnim Labony dismissing Rawail Farhan for four from 11 balls. Labony continued her impact, taking two more wickets in consecutive deliveries to remove Zufishan Ayaz and Arisha Ansari.
Iman Nasir and Faiza Fayyaz then built a crucial partnership, repeatedly benefiting from fielding errors by Bangladesh. Two missed catches in the 16th over and another in the 17th allowed the pair to steer Pakistan home, completing the chase in 18.1 overs.
