Platforms Gallery in the capital has opened Atmospheres of Time, a solo exhibition by painter Avi Shankar Ain, presenting 30 new paintings that explore the poetic transitions of season, memory, and the passage of time.
The exhibition traces subtle shifts in climate and light, inhabiting change rather than depicting it. Ain’s paintings capture the slow warmth of lengthening light, the density of cold settling into form, and the delicate tension between softness and severity, organisers said in a press release.
Water, sky, and horizon dissolve into fluid sensorial terrains, conveying emotional temperature, stillness, turbulence, and calm. Figures are absent, yet the works remain deeply human, holding emotional resonance across all compositions.
The exhibition invites viewers to dwell in ambiguity, experiencing time as atmosphere rather than chronology, said Rayana Hossain, Founder of Platforms Gallery.
Ain’s work integrates the cyclical nature of light, air, warmth, and cold, while highlighting human perception and emotional rhythm.
Sultan M Mineuddin described the show as an important moment for Platforms Gallery, noting it presents contemporary Bangladeshi artists who engage with global visual language while remaining personal and rooted in lived experience.
Monirul Islam added that Avi’s paintings create a powerful dialogue between memory, environment, and abstraction, capturing emotional landscapes that resonate beyond geography.
The exhibition features auctions, secondary market transfers, trading, profit and principal payments, fund certificate issuance, and depository services digitally via the gallery’s platform, enhancing accessibility and engagement.
It runs from May 16 to June 7, open daily from 11:00am to 8:00pm, offering visitors an immersive journey through seasonal transitions, emotional rhythm, and the quiet poetry of change.
