Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam on Sunday night warned that those who once opposed fascism are themselves adopting fascist behaviour, and that the oppressed are now becoming oppressors.
In a post from his verified Facebook account, he wrote, “The oppressed are becoming oppressors, anti-fascists are becoming fascists. The whole situation is one of disappointment and anger.”
He said those who are engaging in new forms of oppression and violence, instead of replacing injustice with fairness and brutality with compassion, would be responsible for the resurgence of fascism.
Hindering diversity of thought and practice in society and the state, he added, would pave the way for fascism to return and cause the July revolution to fail.
“All forms of oppression against Sufi followers, fakirs, bauls and all dissenting groups must stop,” he said.
