Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb has stated that one lakh students will receive digital skills training from the Information and Communication Technology Division while virtually inaugurating a training program on “Computer Fundamentals and Digital Marketing for July Warriors” at the regional office of the Bangladesh Computer Council in Rangpur on Wednesday.
Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb said, “If we fail to acquire knowledge about AI and Generative AI, we will fall behind both domestically and internationally. To address this challenge, one lakh students will receive digital skills development training from ICT. We want to make this training timely by considering the trainees’ suggestions.”
He added, “I respectfully remember the sacrifices of the people of Rangpur. That is why we have started this training here.”
The special assistant further stated, “We have planned mobile ICT labs. These vehicles will have training facilities. Training will be provided wherever people are located.”
Due to past political culture, Rangpur has fallen behind, he said, and therefore, alongside determining ICT’s role in advancing this region in technology, they are considering how to move forward in collaboration with Begum Rokeya University.
Regarding the training organisation, Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb said that training for the July Warriors has begun, and a pilot project has been undertaken. In the first phase, 42 hours of ICT training will be provided in schools and colleges. Based on the learning from this training, advanced training will be arranged in the second phase. Gradually, madrasas will be also included in this training.
Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb mentioned that under this project, 10 Resource Integration Centre (RIC) labs are being established in 10 public universities. This will create opportunities for students to conduct various research, he said.
In his presidential speech, Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division, Shish Haider Chowdhury, said, “On the anniversary of the July mass uprising, we have started this training from the land of martyr Abu Sayed, under the instructions of Special Assistant Foyez Ahmad Taiyeb. This training has been organised to involve the July Warriors in the dream of digital transformation that we envision.”
On behalf of the trainees, Chief Coordinator of the Rangpur Division’s Martyred and Injured Cell Md Roni Mia requested the Special Assistant for long-term ICT training for the July Warriors and to provide each trainee with a computer.
In the 7-day ICT training for July Warriors of Rangpur Division organised by the Bangladesh Computer Council, 20 individuals are receiving training in Computer Fundamentals and 20 in Digital Marketing in the first phase. Gradually, this training will be expanded nationwide.
It is worth noting that prior to this, a month-long training was completed from August 16, 2025, with 160 students from Gorosthan Jamia Islamia Darus-Sunnah Madrasa in Tangail. Gradually, 740 madrasa students from Chattogram, Cumilla, and Tangail districts will be trained under this programme.
