The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ms. Sabrina Luthfa, PhD, to establish the Professor Dr. Lutfun Hussain Memorial Scholarship for undergraduate students, the university said. The agreement, signed on September 3, 2026, will provide one scholarship annually to a student enrolled in any undergraduate programme at ULAB.
The scholarship selection process will consider students’ academic performance, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, ethical conduct, commitment and respect for ULAB’s values. The initiative was established by the family of the late Professor Dr. Lutfun Hussain, a professor of the Department of Zoology at the University of Dhaka, to support and encourage deserving students.
Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, signed the MoU on behalf of the university, while Ms. Sabrina Luthfa, PhD, Associate Professor at the School of Business, signed on behalf of her family.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Jude W. R. Genilo, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees and Treasurer, representing ULAB. Ms. Sabrina Luthfa, PhD, and members of her family also attended the ceremony.
The university said the scholarship aims to honour Professor Dr. Lutfun Hussain’s legacy by providing financial support and encouragement to undergraduate students demonstrating academic merit and commitment to personal and institutional values.
