Olympic Industries PLC has decided to import three sets of brand-new capital machinery to expand carton production and food processing capacity at its factories in Narayanganj.
The company disclosed the decision in a stock exchange filing following a board meeting held on Saturday.
The board approved the purchase and import of two sets of capital machinery for a carton production plant with standard accessories from China-based Cangzhou Rupali Import and Export Co Ltd.
The two machines will have a combined production capacity of 315.36 million pieces of cartons per year, with each set capable of producing 157.68 million pieces annually and supporting a maximum printing area of 900 by 2,050 millimetres.
The machinery will be imported at a total cost of $500,000, including freight charges, equivalent to about Tk6,13,50,000, and will be installed and commissioned at the company’s Kutubpur factory in Kanchpur under Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
The board also approved the purchase of one set of machinery for the food industry — an egg washing and breaking machine — from Hong Kong-based Tech Yun Industrial Limited.
The machine will have a production capacity of 175.20 million pieces per year and will be imported at a cost of $46,000 including freight, equivalent to about Tk56,44,200.
It will be installed and commissioned at Olympic’s Lolati factory in Kanchpur under Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
