National University (NU) and IDP Education Bangladesh have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to help facilitate access to international education opportunities for millions of students enrolled at the university’s affiliated colleges across Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed on Monday morning (27 July) at the IDP Bangladesh head office in Gulshan, Dhaka. On behalf of National University, the agreement was signed by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Amanullah, while IDP Education Bangladesh Country Director Rajib Mahbubul signed on behalf of the organisation.
Representing National University at the ceremony were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Director of the International Desk Raj Bin Kasem, Communication Expert Gautam Barua, Coordinator of the Multi-Language Learning Institute Md Saiful Islam Shaheen, and Chair of the Faculty of Business Studies Sheikh Mujahidul Islam.
Representing IDP Education Bangladesh were Head of IELTS Operations Ellora Shahab Shormi, Senior Director for South Asia at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission Mostafizur Rahman, Strategic Alliance Manager Momenur Rahman Moin, Head of Marketing Mohammad Shihab Talukdar, and Head of Sales and Operations Anwar Hossain, among others.
The primary objective of the MoU is to create opportunities for National University students to access world-class higher education, gain entry to international platforms and build global careers.
Under the agreement, IDP Bangladesh will provide students with information on admissions to internationally recognised universities, scholarship support, appropriate guidance, and comprehensive assistance with IELTS preparation and testing.
Speaking at the event, the National University Vice-Chancellor said: “This memorandum of understanding is a timely initiative to help our students remain competitive globally and expand their career opportunities. Through this partnership with IDP Education, our students will receive proper guidance for pursuing higher education.”
Rajib Mahbubul, Country Director of IDP Education Bangladesh, said: “IDP has been working for more than 50 years to help students around the world achieve their higher education aspirations. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the large student community of National University. We believe this initiative will open a new horizon for young students in building international careers.”
Under the MoU, National University and IDP Bangladesh will jointly organise seminars, workshops, education fairs and IELTS awareness sessions, which are expected to contribute directly to students’ skills development.
