National University (NU) and BRAC University have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on enhancing higher education, research and academic capacity.
The agreement was signed at BRAC University’s main campus in Dhaka’s Badda area on Monday, said a press release.
National University Vice-Chancellor ASM Amanullah and BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Syed Ferhat Anwar signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
ASM Amanullah said improving the quality of higher education did not depend solely on infrastructure development.
“It requires quality research, creation of new knowledge and mutual cooperation,” he said. “The joint efforts of BRAC University and NU will help ensure quality and timely education for a large number of students.”
Ferhat Anwar said BRAC University always believed in meaningful engagement both nationally and internationally.
“As a higher education institution, our responsibility is not limited to creating knowledge or within the classroom,” he said. “It is about delivering that knowledge to people and empowering society and communities through it.”
Under the MoU, both universities will conduct joint research, exchange educational and technological experience, and work together to achieve academic excellence for teachers and students.
National University Treasurer Md Nazmul Hossain, International Desk Director Raj Bin Kasem, Communications Expert Gautam Barua, Multi-Language Learning Institute Coordinator Md Saiful Islam Shaheen and Faculty of Business Studies Chairman Sheikh Mujahidul Islam attended.
BRAC University was represented by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Treasurer Ariful Islam, Registrar David Dowland, James P Grant School of Public Health and Central Research and Innovation Office Director Malay Kanti Mridha, Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre Director Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Institute of Educational Development Executive Director Eram Mariam.
