Remittance receivers will now get funds instantly in their bKash accounts under a partnership between NRBC Bank and bKash, encouraging expatriate Bangladeshis to send money through formal channels and promoting financial inclusion.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on August 19, at NRBC Bank’s head office by Managing Director Touhidul Alam Khan and bKash Chief Commercial Officer Ali Ahmmed, said a press release on Sunday.
The service is expected to be particularly beneficial for small-ticket transactions, allowing receivers to access and use funds conveniently. Under the partnership, expatriates can send remittances directly to relatives’ bKash accounts through NRBC Bank.
NRBC Bank Deputy Managing Director Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, Deputy Managing Director Shaheen Howlader, Head of International Division Hasnat Reza Mohibbul Alam, Chief Financial Officer Rasedul Islam, ICT Operations Head Razidul Islam, Treasury Head Kazi Zunaid Zaman, and bKash Vice Presidents Sayed Shaikh Ibna Jilany and Shouvik Ghosh, along with senior officials from both organisations, attended the signing ceremony.
Khan said technology has made the payment ecosystem easier and more secure. “This partnership will encourage expatriate Bangladeshis to send remittances through formal channels and ensure their greater participation in the country’s institutional economy,” he said.
