The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has accepted formal charges against Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq in a crimes against humanity case linked to the July mass uprising.
On Thursday, the tribunal ordered that the two accused be shown arrested and produced before the tribunal on 10 December.
Earlier on Wednesday, investigation officers submitted their probe report to the tribunal against former law minister Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman, the adviser on private sector affairs to the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to court sources, the two accused have been charged with instigating, assisting, and conspiring in killings across the country during July–August last year.
The charges also state that evidence has been found that they advised the imposition of a curfew to crush the movement and “finish off” the protesters, in addition to all other killings.
On 13 August 2024, police detained Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq. They were later shown arrested in various cases.
Meanwhile, in the genocide case filed over shutting down the internet during the July movement, the tribunal-1 has issued an arrest warrant against the prime accused, Sajib Wazed Joy, son of Sheikh Hasina and former adviser on information and communication technology.
The prosecution has also applied to show former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak arrested in the same case.
