Two people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Begumganj and Kabirhat upazilas of Noakhali on Sunday.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at Noakhali General Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Golam Sarwar, 47, and Belal Hossain, 46.

In the first incident, a regional manager of Meghna Group, Golam Sarwar, died after being run over by a truck in Begumganj on Sunday morning. Police said Sarwar’s home district is Khulna’s Pansha upazila. Following the accident, an agitated crowd chased down and seized the truck, though the driver managed to flee.

Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem, adding that legal action is being taken regarding the seized vehicle.

In a separate crash in Kabirhat upazila’s Naratampur union, a number-plate-less CNG collided head-on with a training vehicle at Falahari Road junction. Three people, including a child, were seriously injured. One of them, Belal Hossain of Companiganj, later died at hospital.

The injured were identified as Habib Ullah, 24, Jubayer, 6, and Zainal Abedin, 24.

Police in Begumganj and Kabirhat have confirmed both incidents.
