BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the people of Bangladesh would never support any political party that does not believe in the country’s independence.
He said national responsibility cannot be entrusted to those who did not accept the birth of the nation, while addressing an election rally at Debiganj upazila on Sunday.
“Can Bangladesh be a blessing to those who did not believe in its independence, and how can such responsibility be given to them,” he said, speaking as the chief guest at the rally held in support of BNP Sheaf of Paddy candidate Farhad Hossain Azad for the Panchagarh-2 constituency.
He said the upcoming election is entirely a political choice, asking voters whether they want to move forward or return to the past.
The electorate must decide whether they will stand with opponents of independence or with those who want to take the country towards progress, he said.
He said the BNP is the only party capable of stabilising the national economy, meeting public expectations, and moving the country forward.
He claimed Jamaat-e-Islami has never had that experience and will not be able to deliver it in the future.
He said the country and its people can only be protected if the nation moves forward under the leadership of Tarique Rahman and Khaleda Zia.
At the public rally, BNP’s “Sheaf of Paddy” candidate for the Panchagarh-2 constituency, Farhad Hossain Azad, along with leaders and activists of the party’s affiliated organisations, were present.
