There will be no place for terrorists in the next parliament, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said, stressing that no future democratic government would be allowed to go off track.
Speaking at a Nationalist Women’s Party workers’ meeting at the Chiringa Palakata at Masghat Station in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, he said the party wants to build a parliament where development and democratic rights are discussed, not song and dance.
Salahuddin Ahmed said laws would be enacted in the next parliament to help Bangladesh move forward, adding that the culture of excessive praise would no longer prevail.
“We want a parliament where members speak for the people and where there will also be opposition. Through such a parliament, we want to set an example for the world,” he said.
Referring to the upcoming election, he said it would determine the direction of Bangladesh’s future and mark the implementation of democratic rights achieved through the blood of martyrs.
He said the election would be remembered as one of the most important in the nation’s history and would place democracy on a strong foundation.
Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque, General Secretary M Mobarak Ali and District BNP Vice-President Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury Khokon Mia were present as special guests.
