Santos have opened an internal investigation into Neymar after an alleged training ground incident involving teammate Robinho Jr on Sunday.
Sources told ESPN that the issue began during a session when the 18-year-old forward dribbled past Neymar. The Brazil captain reacted angrily. Reports claim he kicked Robinho Jr and sparked a heated exchange before teammates stepped in.
Santos confirmed the probe in a statement. “Santos Futebol Clube has become aware of an allegation involving one of its players and another player from the same club,” the club said. The board instructed the legal department to lead the investigation.
Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte reported that Robinho Jr filed three complaints. He accused Neymar of verbal abuse, a trip and a slap. He also raised concerns over safety inside the club environment and requested a meeting to discuss his contract.
Neymar has not commented publicly. His management team told ESPN that he will not address the issue at this stage. Earlier reports said he contacted the player and his family after the incident to apologise.
Robinho Jr, son of former Brazil forward Robinho, joined the senior setup last summer and has played eight matches this season across competitions.
The case adds to a difficult period for Neymar, who continues to deal with fitness issues and uncertainty over his place in Brazil’s World Cup plans under Carlo Ancelotti.
