Gold prices in the domestic market have been reset. The price of the best quality 22‑carat gold jewellery, including VAT, has been fixed at Tk232,930 per bhori.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new rates in a notice on Thursday morning, saying the prices took effect from 10am.
Earlier, on 15 June, the price of one bhori of 22‑carat gold was set at Tk230,422. With 5 per cent VAT added, the price stood at Tk241,943 per bhori.
It is noteworthy that until now, gold prices in Bangladesh had been set excluding VAT. In this announcement, BAJUS stated that until further notice, all jewellery outlets must apply the new VAT‑inclusive sales price.
Labour charges will vary depending on design. Since VAT is included in the sales price, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers. A decision on VAT for silver ornaments will be announced soon.
On 13 June, BAJUS had previously adjusted gold prices, raising the rate of 22‑carat gold by Tk6,590 per bhori to Tk224,940.
Altogether, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 76 times so far this year — 39 increases and 37 decreases. In 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
