Upcoming television drama ‘Thake Tobu Bhalobasha’ delves into the quiet pressures of middle-class life, where love and financial strain often collide.
The story centres on a small family: Sarowar, his wife Saina and their young daughter Nabiha. Sarowar works in a modestly paid job and the household survives on his limited income, often relying on loans to manage additional expenses.
Already burdened with instalments for a recently purchased motorcycle, Sarowar finds himself under further pressure when Saina, influenced by their neighbours, insists on installing an air conditioner at home.
Determined to keep his family happy, Sarowar eventually gives in but in doing so, he secretly uses office funds to manage the costs, triggering a chain of complications that shake the family’s stability.
Directed by SM Selim and written by MS Rana, the drama stars Golam Kibria Tanvir as Sarowar and Nabila Islam as Saina, with child artiste Nabiha Rana Ira playing their daughter. Supporting roles are performed by Tarek Aziz Nishak, Jannatun Tajri Aura, Sohel Rashid, Aranya Bijoy, Mosharraf Hossain and Monir Hossain Anik.
The title track, also named ‘Thake Tobu Bhalobasha’, is written by Johnny Haque, composed by Murad Noor and sung by Tanisha Islam Sheniz.
Reflecting on the project, Tanvir described the story as emotionally powerful despite its simple premise. He revealed that the final scenes were so moving that many members of the cast and crew were left in tears.
Nabila Islam noted that the air conditioner serves merely as a symbol, representing deeper realities of middle-class aspirations and pressures. She added that the drama’s conclusion would resonate strongly with viewers, particularly those who recognise their own lives in the narrative.
Director SM Selim expressed hope that audiences would both enjoy and reflect on the story, describing it as a heartfelt collective effort by the entire team.
Thake Tobu Bhalobasha is scheduled to air on BTV at 9:00 pm on March 7.
