Four newly appointed members of BNP’s National Standing Committee on Tuesday pledged to bolster the position of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and execute the party’s electoral manifesto.
The leaders made this commitment at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, where they paid respects at the graves of Ziaur Rahman, the party’s founder and former president, and Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister who served as the party’s chairperson for the longest period.
The four politicians were appointed to the standing committee on 15 August.
Speaking after the ceremony, new committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the administration intends to develop the nation in alignment with the political principles of BNP.
He admitted to experiencing a mixture of anxiety and joy regarding their new roles, questioning whether they would successfully and faithfully execute their assigned duties.
Rizvi pointed out that all four inductees began their political careers during their university days in student politics, promising that they would carry out their roles in the party’s supreme policymaking unit while keeping to the party’s core ideology and values.
He further remarked that their efforts would focus on organising, consolidating, and advancing the party. Rizvi noted that the administration has finished six months in office and is acting rapidly to execute its pre-election pledges.
Fellow new member Aman Ullah Aman said their role would be to act as a bridge connecting public with both party and government.
He credited the joint struggles of public and the prime minister for dismantling fascism and reclaiming voting rights in the country.
Aman said they would maintain close cooperation with people while offering backing to the administration. He declared their vow to realise all of the prime minister’s declared initiatives at any cost and through any sacrifice under his leadership.
Aman added that prime minister and the government are striving to secure public confidence, and new members would responsibly cultivate this trust between party, administration, and citizens.
Meanwhile, another new member, Farhad Halim Donar, compared Tarique Rahman to his father, Ziaur Rahman, stating that the prime minister is progressing at a faster pace than his father did during his three-year tenure.
Donar noted that the execution of every pledge in the election manifesto has commenced, observing that while new administrations typically require two to three months to establish themselves, their current duty is to push these initiatives forward.
The final new inductee, Md Ismail Zabihullah, described BNP as a party carrying a historic political legacy, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver on their responsibilities.
He confirmed that the implementation of the electoral manifesto is already underway, adding that collective unity would ensure they achieve their objectives.
The tribute was also attended by BNP leaders Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel and Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, alongside representatives and members from various BNP-associated organisations.
