Four new members have been inducted into the BNP’s highest policymaking body, the Standing Committee. The party said the decision was taken to strengthen organisational dynamism and ensure continuity in party decision-making.
Of the four, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Aman Ullah Aman rose to national politics through grassroots and student politics. Farhad Halim Donar, meanwhile, has extensive experience in professional organisations and medical and social initiatives, while Ismail Jabiullah has long experience in administration, policymaking and international political engagement.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the party said it expected its four new members to provide important advice to the highest policymaking forum through their expertise, experience and judgment, and to contribute to decisions taken in the interests of the party and the people.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed is a longstanding and familiar face of the BNP. He currently serves as the party’s senior joint secretary general. Much of his political profile was built through student politics.
Born in Kurigram, Rizvi studied at Rajshahi University after completing his higher secondary education at Rajshahi College. Early in his student life, he was involved with the left-leaning Biplobi Chhatra Union before later joining the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
After serving as publicity secretary and general secretary of the Chhatra Dal’s Rajshahi University unit, he went on to become president of the central Chhatra Dal. His election as vice-president of the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (Rucsu) in 1989 was one of the major milestones of his political career.
After rising through the BNP’s central politics, Rizvi also played a prominent role as the party’s spokesperson for many years. He regularly held press conferences and articulated the party’s political positions. In 2016, he was appointed the party’s senior joint secretary general.
Speaking to TIMES of Bangladesh, Rizvi said, “As a member of the Standing Committee, I want to continue working as much as I can to strengthen the party organisationally.”
Mohammad Aman Ullah Aman is a native of Keraniganj in Dhaka. His political career also began with his involvement in the Chhatra Dal. He was elected vice-president of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) in 1990. His role as a student leader during the intense anti-autocracy movement brought him national prominence.
In the 1991 parliamentary election, he won Dhaka-3 as a BNP candidate. During the government led by Khaleda Zia, he served as state minister for health and family welfare and later as state minister for labour and employment.
While leading the BNP’s anti-government movement, Aman faced arrest and imprisonment. He was arrested in a case filed over clashes surrounding the BNP rally on 28 October 2023, and was released on bail in February 2024.
In the 2026 national parliamentary election, he was also elected as the BNP candidate from Dhaka-2.
Farhad Halim Donar is a medical professional who has also served as an adviser to the BNP chairperson.
For many years, he has been involved in various social, medical and public welfare activities as executive director of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation. He was also identified as the foundation’s executive director when its new board of directors was announced in 2024.
Through the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Donar has been actively involved in programmes covering healthcare, agriculture, education and public welfare. He has led foundation initiatives providing medical assistance to disadvantaged communities, training for farmers, veterinary camps and various social programmes.
In April 2026, Donar was elected chairman of the Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute.
Ismail Jabiullah is a prominent BNP figure in professional and policymaking circles. A former government official, he has extensive experience in public administration. As a member of the BNP chairperson’s advisory council, he has been involved in the party’s work on public administration and state institutional reforms.
In 2024, as a member of the BNP’s committee on public administration reform, he presented the party’s proposals for administrative reforms to the government.
He has also played a role in the BNP’s international engagement and participated as a member of the party’s delegations at various international meetings.
In 2026, Ismail Jabiullah is serving as an adviser to the Ministry of Public Administration. Government documents identify him as an adviser holding the rank of a minister. The same year, he was also nominated as a member of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) as a representative of the BNP.
