Fans of the hit Netflix series ‘Peaky Blinders’ will be able to stream the highly anticipated film spin-off ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ from March 20, following a limited cinema release.
Cillian Murphy reprises his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, joined by familiar faces including Stephen Graham as union leader Hayden Stagg, Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby and Ned Dennehy’s Charlie Strong. The film also introduces a new generation of characters, with Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo and Barry Keoghan joining the cast. Keoghan plays Tommy’s rebellious son Duke Shelby, first seen in the show’s sixth season.
Series creator Steven Knight penned the screenplay, while Tom Harper, director of season one, returned to helm the film. Murphy described the project as “very gratifying” and promised it would be “one for the fans.”
After its world premiere at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on March 2, the film opened in cinemas on March 6 for a two-week run before moving to Netflix. Critics gave the movie mixed reviews, with NME noting it “wraps things up as tightly as a burial shroud,” praising its sombre conclusion to the Shelby saga.
The soundtrack features contributions from Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten, Amy Taylor of Amyl & The Sniffers, Nick Cave and Lankum, adding to the film’s gritty atmosphere.
