Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Monday night to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Bangladesh’s newly elected government led by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, highlighting Kathmandu’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
According to a press release from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bala Nanda Sharma’s visit underscores Nepal’s dedication to strengthening ties and promoting cooperation with Bangladesh.
The Foreign Minister is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:15pm on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Kathmandu.
He will be accompanied by senior officials from his ministry and is scheduled to return to Nepal on 19 February.
Earlier this week, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushila Karki congratulated Tarique Rahman on his party’s success in the 13th parliamentary elections.
In her message, she extended warm wishes to the government and the people of Bangladesh for the smooth conduct of the polls and commended Tarique Rahman on guiding the BNP to a decisive victory.
“I look forward to working closely with you to enhance our neighbourly relations and foster cooperation in areas of shared interest,” the Prime Minister added.
The visit marks a significant diplomatic gesture, reflecting Nepal’s intention to reinforce friendly relations and collaboration with Bangladesh under the new administration.
