Nearly 15,000 police personnel have been deployed across the capital, with checkpoints established at major intersections to maintain law and order amid a recent surge in violence ahead of Monday’s verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Law enforcers are conducting searches of vehicles and individuals deemed suspicious, according to Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) SN Nazrul Islam.

Police were seen carrying out inspections in several key locations, including Mohammadpur Beribadh, Karwan Bazar rail crossing, Mirpur, Shahbagh, Moghbazar, and Gabtoli.

Despite the heightened security measures, the city’s usual flow of office-goers and daily commuters remained largely unaffected.
