The Bangladesh Navy has intensified security measures and surveillance in Teknaf to maintain law and order ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
A navy contingent has been conducting regular foot patrols and monitoring activities across Teknaf upazila to ensure peace and security during the electoral period.
On Saturday, the contingent began a foot patrol around noon from the front of Teknaf Pilot High School.
The patrol passed through Shapla Chattar, the bus station and Jharna Chattar before ending at the upazila Shahid Minar.
During the patrol, navy personnel exchanged views with pedestrians, local residents and businessmen while monitoring the overall law and order situation.
Precautionary campaigns were also carried out to prevent terrorism, sabotage and other criminal activities.
The navy has placed additional surveillance on areas considered prone to unrest and locations where large gatherings are expected.
Sources in the Teknaf navy contingent said they are on maximum alert to prevent any untoward incidents in coastal areas and border towns ahead of the national election.
They said the operations will continue to ensure a safe and peaceful electoral environment.
