The National Martyrs’ Memorial has been closed to the public for nine days as renovation and preparatory work intensifies ahead of Victory Day celebrations.
A notice posted at the main gate on Saturday afternoon announced the temporary restriction, stating that entry will remain completely suspended from Saturday until 15 December.
According to the notice, the closure aims to ensure a safe environment for state programmes, cleaning operations and development activities underway at the memorial premises.
Authorities expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience but urged visitors to cooperate, saying the preparations are essential to keep the memorial grounds clean, organised and secure for Victory Day.
Inspector Md Anwar Khan Anu of the National Martyrs’ Memorial said preparations are being carried out to ensure the smooth organisation of official programmes on Victory Day, which is why public access has been limited for a short period.
