National Memorial in Savar is all set to receive tribute from people on National Victory Day tomorrow.
The entire area surrounding the memorial has been thoroughly cleaned, decorated, and adorned, with fresh coats of paint to ensure a fitting atmosphere.
In addition to the aesthetic preparations, a robust four-tier security system has been implemented across the memorial site.
There has been a ban on public access to the area from 11 to 15 December to ensure everything is in place for the occasion.
The security arrangements have been inspected multiple times by senior officials, including DIG of Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Malik and the district police superintendent, alongside top authorities from various agencies.
A total of 4,000 police officers are deployed across 13 sectors along the 23-kilometre stretch from Dhaka to the National Memorial, ensuring comprehensive security.
Plainclothes officers, along with uniformed forces, have been stationed since 13 December and will remain on duty until the event ends on 16 December.
Speaking to the media, the DIG said, “As long as the people are here, we will continue to maintain security and order.”
On the morning of 16 December, as the sun rises, President Mohammad Sahabuddin, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, and war-wounded freedom fighters will pay their respects by laying flowers at the National Memorial.
The president and the CA will be given a guard of honour by the three armed forces.
After their tribute, the memorial will be open to the public for the general population to offer their respects. Various political and social leaders will also visit to pay homage later in the day.
The DIG also informed TIMES that in addition to enhancing traffic arrangements from Aminbazar to the National Memorial, over 4,000 officers will be deployed in both uniform and plainclothes.
They will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the public throughout the day.
