Police have recovered the body of another man with stab wounds from a river in Narsingdi, raising the death toll from a clash between two groups over local dominance to three.
The body of Kausar Mia, 35, was recovered on Wednesday afternoon from the Meghna River adjacent to Jitrampur village in Madhabdi upazila.
The body was found floating about 8 to 10 kilometres downstream from the scene of the clash, approximately 24 hours after the incident.
Police believe Kausar Mia was stabbed and thrown into the river. His body was recovered with stab wounds, confirming the brutal nature of the attack.
Officer-in-Charge of Madhabdi Police Station Kamal Hossain confirmed the recovery and said the body was handed over to Raipura Police Station for legal proceedings after identification.
On Tuesday, the bodies of Bulbul Mia, from Sonakandi area, and Anik Mia, 22, from East Para area, were recovered following the clash in Nilakshya Union of Raipura upazila.
The violence erupted over local dominance, police said. Tension remains high in the area, and additional police have been deployed to prevent further unrest.
Raipura Police Station will take subsequent legal action in connection with the case, OC Kamal Hossain added.
