Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan took an exceptional initiative this Eid-ul-Azha, personally joining waste workers on a garbage truck to oversee the rapid removal of sacrificial animal waste.
Throughout Eid day, cleanliness drives continued across various areas of the city as the administrator directly supervised operations to prevent foul odours, waste piles, or waterlogging, pledging to build a “sparkling, clean” Narayanganj city.
The Local Government Division had issued directives to all city corporations and municipalities across the country to remove sacrificial animal waste within 12 hours. However, Sakhawat Hossain Khan announced that waste in Narayanganj would be removed within 8 hours.
To achieve this, over two thousand cleanliness workers were deployed, and waste-carrying vehicles were kept operational throughout the day. Additionally, waste collection polybags and bleaching powder were distributed across various wards to prevent environmental pollution and foul odours.
The administrator’s hands-on initiative has generated positive reactions among ordinary citizens, with many appreciating his direct involvement in the cleanliness drive.
