Singer-songwriter Nabila Noor Kuhu has returned this Eid with her latest original single, ‘Fera’, a song exploring the emotional resonance of returning home for those living away from their roots.
Arranged by acclaimed music director Autumnal Moon, the track was released on March 17 across Kuhu’s official YouTube channel, Spotify and other streaming platforms.
Kuhu herself has written the lyrics, staying true to her signature themes of nostalgia, longing, and the emotional landscapes of urban life. Speaking about the song, she said, “‘Fera’ captures the profound sense of nostalgia experienced by those far from home, and the emotional release that comes with returning to one’s roots after a long time.”
Musically, the composition draws on blues and jazz influences, introduced by Autumnal Moon, giving the track a distinctive tonal identity. Departing from conventional visuals, the song’s video features sketch animation, directed by Mir Hisham.
Kuhu’s musical journey began with formal training in Nazrul Sangeet at Chhayanaut, where she secured second position in first class. She subsequently received classical training under Anup Barua. From an early age, her vocal talent impressed audiences, and she was enlisted as a performer on Bangladesh Television.
In recent years, Kuhu has concentrated on original compositions, writing and composing much of her own material. Her notable works include ‘Behager Ei Raat’ (in collaboration with Rafa), ‘The Song of a Roadtrip’ (with Sandhi) and ‘Shohure Maya’, arranged by Moon. Tracks such as ‘Chhayahoriner Daak’ and ‘Shunnyotay Jibon’ have also been warmly received by audiences.
Academically, Kuhu completed her undergraduate studies at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology before moving to the US for higher education. She earned a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Arlington and currently serves as Director at the Planning and Development Department of the City of Garland, Texas.
Despite her professional commitments, she continues to pursue music actively, performing across different US states while steadily building her catalogue of original songs.
