Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for May 2026. He beat teammate Taijul Islam and Nepal all rounder Dipendra Singh Airee to claim the honour.
Mushfiqur played a key role in Bangladesh’s 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The experienced batter scored 253 runs in two Tests and averaged 63.25.
This is the second time Mushfiqur has received the monthly ICC award. He also won the prize in May 2021.
“It is a great honour to be named the ICC Player of the Month once again, and I am especially pleased that this recognition has come for my performances in Test cricket,” Mushfiqur said.
“My teammate Taijul also played a big part in our memorable series win over Pakistan, one which we will all cherish for long.
“Our victory has also helped us climb the ICC World Test Championship standings, making the achievement even more significant for the team.
“I am grateful to my team-mates and support staff for their support, and I look forward to contributing further to Bangladesh’s success in the months ahead.”
Mushfiqur made an important contribution in the opening Test against Pakistan. He scored 71 runs in the first innings and helped Bangladesh build a strong position.
He then produced his best innings of the series in Sylhet. The right hander scored a brilliant 137 in the second innings of the second Test and guided Bangladesh towards another famous victory.
His runs and leadership on the field earned him the Player of the Series award. Bangladesh completed a second straight Test series sweep over Pakistan and improved their position in the World Test Championship table.
