A man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a passenger microbus on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday morning.
The incident took place around 8:30am near Amin’s Shop at the Mozaher para road in Boroitoli union.
The deceased was identified as Md Mahbub Alam, 25. The injured, his younger brother Md Shahed and another passenger, Md Rasel, were rescued and admitted to hospital.
According to local witnesses, the collision occurred because firewood piled at a dangerous bend obstructed visibility for both drivers.
Md Ariful Amin, officer-in-charge of Chiringa Highway Police Station, said both vehicles were seized, traffic was restored.
Legal procedures are underway before handing over the body to the victim’s family, he added.
