Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday inspected the state-of-the-art Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant located in the capital. During the inspection, he reviewed the overall progress of the project and exchanged views with concerned officials and employees.
During the inspection, the minister emphasised ensuring the highest quality of service, stating that effective sewage management is crucial for the good health of city dwellers and environmental protection. He called upon those concerned to perform their duties with professionalism, accountability, and efficiency.
The minister stressed increasing the use of modern technology for a sustainable solution to Dhaka’s long-standing drainage problems. He noted that an improved sewage treatment system can play an effective role in preventing environmental pollution.
Dhaka WASA’s deputy managing director, the executive engineer of Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant, and other senior officials were present at the exchange meeting. They briefed the minister on the project’s current status, future plans, and steps taken to improve service quality.
The minister expressed hope that through integrated initiatives and the use of modern technology, the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant will be established as a model for an effective and environmentally friendly sanitation system for the residents of Dhaka.
