Opener Saif Hassan has expressed gratitude to senior batter Mushfiqur Rahim for helping him handle the physical and mental demands of playing competitive cricket while observing fast during Ramadan.
Speaking after his match-winning 88-run knock for Central Zone against North Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, on Tuesady, Saif said the performance gave him added confidence.
“Playing during Ramadan was challenging. Since this was a day-night match, it was slightly easier because in the previous game, we had to bat the entire innings while fasting, which caused some dehydration issues. Overall, I feel it was good preparation,” Saif said.
Saif also revealed that he sought advice from Mushfiqur Rahim before playing during Ramadan. He said Mushfiqur, who often plays while fasting, shared valuable tips on match preparation.
“I spoke with Mushfiq Bhai before the match because we were playing while fasting. He always plays during Ramadan and never skips matches,” Saif said.
“He helped me understand how to prepare properly. The day before a match is very important, and we discussed those details,” he added.
