BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, who is undergoing treatment at a specialised hospital in Malaysia, has sought prayers from the people of Bangladesh to pray for his swift recovery.
Speaking to journalists over an audio call from Malaysia on Wednesday afternoon, the senior BNP leader said his condition has improved, though he remains under medical supervision and regular therapy.
“I am doing better now. I am still under treatment and undergoing therapy,” Mirza Abbas said while responding to queries about his health condition.
Asked about his return to Bangladesh, Mirza Abbas said he would come back once he fully recovers. “I will return home as soon as I recover completely. I am still undergoing treatment,” he added.
His wife, Afroza Abbas, who was present beside him during the conversation, said his condition has improved significantly. “He is much better now and is receiving regular therapy while staying at the hospital,” she said.
Mirza Abbas was admitted to Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia on 14 April for physiotherapy treatment.
Earlier, on 11 March, he suddenly lost consciousness during iftar and was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka’s Bashundhara area.
A medical team later performed emergency brain surgery on him.
Following the operation, he was flown to Singapore General Hospital by air ambulance on 15 March for advanced treatment.
After nearly a month of intensive medical care there, doctors advised continued physiotherapy, leading to his transfer to Malaysia’s Prince Court Medical Centre for further rehabilitation.
