Lux star and popular actress Bidya Sinha Mim has been away from the screen for more than two years. Although she has occasionally appeared on social media, she has not faced the camera during this period. However, the wait for her fans is now coming to an end as she prepares for a return across both cinema and OTT platforms.
She will next be seen on Eid-ul-Adha in the film ‘Malik’, opposite Arifin Shuvoo, directed by Saif Chandan.
Alongside this release, Mim also has ‘Jibon Opera’ in the pipeline, where she stars opposite Shariful Razz in a film directed by Alvi Ahmed. She is also working on the OTT project ‘Lifeline’, directed by Kazi Azad.
Malik was originally scheduled for release last Eid but was postponed as shooting was not completed in time. Director Saif Chandan has now confirmed that principal photography is complete, with only one song left to be filmed. Post-production work is currently underway.
Mim has previously shared the screen with Arifin Shuvoo in ‘Tarkata’ and ‘Shapludu’. She said audiences will see a different dynamic between them in this new project compared to their earlier collaborations. She also added that her return after a long break made her particularly selective about her comeback project and Malik was chosen with that in mind.
Her expectations are also high for Jibon Opera. Her earlier collaboration with Shariful Razz in ‘Poran’ was a major success, and their pairing in ‘Damal’ also received audience appreciation. She believes the story and her character in Jibon Opera are strong and will connect with viewers.
In Lifeline, she plays the role of an ordinary working woman, a departure from her usual glamorous on-screen image.
Her most recent releases include ‘Antarjal’ and ‘Manush’. The latter, directed by Sanjoy Somadder, was a Kolkata production in which she starred opposite Jeet.
When asked about future work in Kolkata cinema, she said discussions are ongoing regarding projects in West Bengal. She added that she remains open to such opportunities if the script and character appeal to her, though she is yet to make any official commitments. For now, she is focusing on film and OTT projects in Bangladesh.
Mim has also long been associated with major organisations, serving as Lux National Ambassador since 2016 and UNICEF National Ambassador since 2022.
For Mim, these responsibilities have brought her closer to people and added depth to her life beyond acting, particularly through work related to children’s rights and nutrition.
