Netflix has unveiled the trailer for ‘Akka’, a crime drama starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte as two powerful women whose rivalry threatens a generations-old order in a fictional kingdom, writes Hindustan Times.
Set in Pernuru, the series centres on a society where women have ruled and protected their positions for generations. That established order comes under threat when an outsider challenges the system, reigniting old rivalries and testing loyalties.
Keerthy plays Bhavani, a formidable leader determined to protect her legacy, while Radhika portrays Rudra, an ambitious woman unwilling to accept the existing power structure. Their clash goes beyond a fight for control, exploring questions of family, loyalty, revenge and competing beliefs.
Keerthy described Bhavani as a woman who knows what she stands for but faces difficult choices as the stakes rise. Radhika said Rudra refuses to be defined by her circumstances and is prepared to challenge the established order.
Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is produced by YRF Entertainment. The supporting cast includes Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar.
‘Akka’ will premiere on Netflix on 30 October.
