Actor Sai Pallavi has praised her ‘Ramayana’ co-star Ranbir Kapoor for his keen interest in Tamil films, revealing that he regularly follows new releases and discusses them with her.

Speaking at the Chennai event for ‘Ramayana’ on Wednesday, where the film’s music composed by A.R. Rahman was launched, Sai said Ranbir often asks her about Tamil films she has not yet watched herself.

She recalled discussing ‘Amaran’ with him and said he had also kept up with Vijay Sethupathi’s films ‘Maharaja’ and ‘Baththa’.

Sai described Ranbir’s interest in South Indian cinema as thoughtful, saying he makes an effort to watch films and express his appreciation. She likened his knowledge of regional cinema to a library in his mind.

The actor also spoke about Ranbir’s portrayal of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of the epic. She said the role required restraint and an inner peace that Ranbir conveys through his eyes.

‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir as Lord Ram, Sai as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The first part is scheduled to release in cinemas on 5 November, with the second part expected in 2027.
