Meridian Holdings is set to open its flagship project, Meridian Kohinoor City, a 23-storey shopping and entertainment complex in Chattogram, on 30 January, marking a major addition to the port city’s retail and leisure landscape.
The mixed-use development is located in Dampara, a central area of Chattogram, and has been positioned as a large-scale experience mall combining shopping, entertainment and hospitality under one roof. Details of the project were shared at a press conference held on January 26 at the Engineer Abdul Khalek Auditorium of the Chattogram Press Club.
The briefing was attended by Meridian Group Chairperson Kohinoor Kamal, Director Akib Kamal, CEO Shantanu Barua FCA, Meridian Holdings COO Mohammad Fahim and Meridian Kohinoor City Advisor Asad Iftekhar.
Speakers said the development will house a shopping mall from the first to the tenth floor, while an international-standard luxury hotel is planned for the upper levels, from the 11th to the 23rd floor. The project has been designed as a comprehensive lifestyle destination, combining modern architecture with large-scale commercial and leisure facilities.
The retail complex features a large double atrium, multiple escalators, five modern elevators, a dedicated drop-off zone and extensive parking facilities. Safety systems include three emergency exit staircases, round-the-clock CCTV monitoring, a modern fire safety system and a public announcement network across the building.
Meridian Kohinoor City is expected to host flagship outlets of leading local and international brands, catering to a wide range of consumers. Family-focused attractions include the children’s entertainment zone Babuland. Singapore-based supermarket Mustafa Mart will anchor the retail offering, while the Test Terminal food court will feature a variety of international cuisines.
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Business leaders, corporate executives, investors, media representatives and city residents are also expected to be present at the opening.
With the slogan “Shop, Fun, Relax,” the developers said they expect Meridian Kohinoor City to become a key destination for shopping and entertainment and an integral part of urban life in Chattogram.
