Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, editor-in-chief of Manab Zamin, said, “We want to write, and we want to say.”
He noted that mob violence had undermined journalists’ courage. “Due to mob violence, we could not be courageous,” he said.
Recalling attacks on newspaper offices, Matiur said, “When newspaper offices were set on fire, we could not understand whether we were in hell or heaven.”
He was addressing an event at the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Banani, where BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with editors and journalists. The programme began around 11am.
