Two more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning, taking the total number of deaths linked to the disease and its complications to 585 since mid-March, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total fatalities, 90 were confirmed measles cases, while 495 were classified as suspected measles-related deaths.
The latest deaths were reported from Dhaka division and Faridpur district, the DGHS said in its daily health bulletin issued on Sunday, covering the 24-hour period from 8am Saturday to 8am Sunday.
During the same period, 1,324 new suspected measles cases were reported across the country, while 53 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
Since 15 March, the total number of suspected measles cases has risen to 70,936, while confirmed cases stand at 9,049.
A total of 56,886 patients have been admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms during this period, of whom 52,841 have recovered and been discharged.
Regionally, Dhaka division remains the worst affected, recording 562 new suspected cases in the last 24 hours.
Other divisions reported new cases as follows-Chattogram 262, Barishal 142, Rajshahi 79, Mymensingh 82, Sylhet 69, Khulna 99, and Rangpur 29.
Since 15 March, Dhaka division has recorded the highest cumulative caseload with 33,470 suspected infections, followed by Chattogram with 11,549 cases.
The government is continuing its National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 in an effort to contain the outbreak.
So far, vaccination coverage has reached 102 percent of the national target, with more than 1.84 crore doses administered against a target of 1.80 crore.
Health authorities have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and seek immediate medical care if children develop measles symptoms.
