Bangladesh recorded three more measles-related deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 831 since the outbreak began on 15 March, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest fatalities, two were classified as suspected measles cases, while one patient had a laboratory-confirmed infection, the DGHS said in its daily health bulletin released on Wednesday.
Since 15 March, the country has recorded 735 deaths among suspected measles patients and 96 deaths among confirmed cases, underscoring the continued severity of the outbreak.
The DGHS also reported 996 new suspected measles cases over the past 24 hours, while 79 infections were confirmed through laboratory testing.
During the same period, 925 patients were admitted to hospitals, and 963 recovered and were discharged, according to the bulletin.
Bangladesh has reported a cumulative 126,540 suspected measles cases since 15 March, including 15,739 laboratory-confirmed infections.
A total of 109,366 patients have been hospitalised since the outbreak began, while 105,198 have recovered and returned home.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new suspected infections in the last 24 hours, with 463 cases.
It was followed by Chattogram Division with 194 cases, Barishal Division with 126 cases, and Sylhet Division with 102 cases.
Overall, Chattogram Division has reported the highest cumulative number of suspected measles cases at 23,117 since the outbreak began.
However, Dhaka Division continues to account for the largest number of confirmed infections, with 9,714 laboratory-confirmed cases, according to DGHS data.
Health authorities continue to monitor the outbreak and urge the public to seek medical care promptly if measles symptoms develop, particularly among children and other vulnerable groups.
