Seven more measles-related deaths were recorded across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, including six suspected fatalities and one confirmed death, as the outbreak continued to spread across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 1,363 new suspected cases and 155 confirmed infections were identified during the period, according to a health bulletin released on Thursday by its Integrated Control Centre.
The total number of suspected measles cases has risen to 54,419 since March 15, while confirmed infections reached 7,305 as of 8:00am on Wednesday.
During the period, 39,160 patients were admitted to hospitals and 34,968 were discharged after recovery.
The overall death toll now stands at 369 suspected and 70 confirmed fatalities.
Dhaka remains the worst-hit region, recording the highest number of deaths, including four suspected fatalities in the last 24 hours. The division also reported the highest number of infections during the period, with 588 suspected and 132 confirmed cases.
Chattogram division recorded 273 suspected cases, while Rajshahi reported 159 suspected infections.
The DGHS said 1,81,40,399 people have received the measles-rubella vaccine since the nationwide immunisation campaign began on 5 April. National vaccination coverage has reached 101 per cent, according to the health authorities.
Coverage in Chattogram, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions reached 102 per cent. Among city corporations, Gazipur recorded the highest coverage at 108 percent.
Dhaka North City Corporation achieved 104 percent coverage, while Chattogram City Corporation recorded 96 percent.
