France were reduced to 10 men early in the second half after Dayot Upamecano was sent off, but still held on for victory against a Brazil side that struggled to impose themselves in midfield.
Mbappé, showing no sign of recent knee concerns, opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. After winning possession, Aurélien Tchouaméni fed Ousmane Dembélé, who released the France captain down the right. Mbappé surged past Léo Pereira before lifting a composed finish over Ederson.
Brazil responded with intent, and Vinícius Júnior nearly created an equaliser, but Gabriel Martinelli curled his effort narrowly wide.
The game shifted in the 55th minute when Upamecano was dismissed for a last-man challenge, handing Brazil a numerical advantage. However, France remained composed and doubled their lead on 65 minutes. Hugo Ekitiké finished delicately after being played through by Michael Olise on the counter.
Brazil eventually pulled one back in the 78th minute, with Gleison Bremer converting from close range after a cross from Luiz Henrique. Despite late pressure, France held firm to seal victory.
The win marked a notable milestone for coach Didier Deschamps, who secured his first managerial triumph over Brazil. Meanwhile, Mbappé moved to 56 international goals, just one shy of Olivier Giroud’s all-time France record.
France will next face Colombia in another friendly, while Brazil — under Carlo Ancelotti — will look to address concerns ahead of the World Cup.
