Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has praised Bangladesh as the second strongest team in Asia, just behind India. He made the remark after reviewing recent performances of various Asian teams.
At first, Manjrekar thought Afghanistan might hold the second spot after India. He was impressed by their steady improvements and consistent play. He also considered Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to be close in strength.
But his view changed after watching Bangladesh closely. He said their overall performance and consistency stood out. He noted that while Sri Lanka’s bowling is weak, Bangladesh apply pressure in nearly all aspects of the game.
Manjrekar said, “It is clear now that Bangladesh are the second strongest team. Sri Lanka have a weak bowling, but Bangladesh are performing well in almost every area. Their current form makes them the second best in this tournament.”
He also criticized Pakistan’s team, saying they are at least 15 years behind. He praised Bangladesh for their energy and passion, especially among young players who are improving quickly.
He added, “Pakistan are far behind. Bangladesh show much more passion, and the young players are getting better every day. Pakistan are weak now.”
Bangladesh’s strong performances have impressed experts and made them a serious contender in the tournament.
