A 50-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Uttara of Dhaka, on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain, who worked as a water supplier at the Abdullahpur Fish Market and lived nearby. His family, however, resides in their ancestral home in Shibganj, Bogura.
The accident took place around 11am on the road in front of Abdullahpur Fish Market. According to the victim’s son, Iqbal Hossain Jihad, his father had gone to the market that morning and was attempting to cross the road to buy food when the incident occurred.
Initial reports suggest Anwar was caught between a bus and an auto-rickshaw, although some witnesses have stated that two buses were involved in the collision.
After the accident, Jihad received a phone call informing him of his father’s injuries. He found his father in a critical condition at Kurmitola General Hospital. For advanced medical treatment, Anwar was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at around 5:00 pm after conducting several examinations.
Inspector Md Faruk, In-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the death and stated that the body is currently being held in the hospital morgue. He also noted that the incident has been reported to the relevant police station for investigation.
