A truck driver was killed after his vehicle hit a road divider and overturned on Dhaka–Tangail highway near Jamuna Bridge on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rasel Mia, 20, son of Zahirul Islam, from Sirajkandi area of Bhuanpur upazila in Tangail district.
According to police, the accident occurred in Bhatkura area when the truck, which had left Dhaka, reached the spot.
The driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to climb the divider and lose control. He was crushed under the overturned truck and died on the spot.
Members of the Tangail Fire Service recovered the body.
Sergeant Sajidul Islam of Elenga Highway Police Station said the body will be handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
