A rickshaw passenger was killed after a truck ran over the vehicle on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat road in Gopalganj sadar on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Mridul Sheikh, 32, son of Felan Sheikh of Khatiagor Uttarpara village in the sadar upazila.
The injured rickshaw puller, Samiul Molla, was admitted to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital.
Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Anisur Rahman said Mridul was travelling to Gopalganj town by rickshaw from Ulpur.
When the rickshaw reached the Bherar Bazar area, a speeding truck hit and crushed the vehicle, he said.
Mridul died on the spot, while locals rescued Samiul in critical condition and took him to hospital.
Police later sent Mridul’s body to the same hospital.
