Police arrested a man and recovered cocktails and petrol bombs during an anti‑government procession in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday night, while 40–45 suspects fled the scene.
The arrestee, Md Sami, 20, hails from Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. The incident occurred around 10:10pm, according to a press release.
Police alleged that Sami, along with 40–45 unidentified associates, had manufactured the bombs using explosive materials and kept them in his possession. Later, they staged a procession and chanted slogans against the elected government.
Sami was detained during the operation, while the others managed to escape. Police said a school bag carried by the accused contained 20 cocktails and petrol bottles.
According to police, the items were recovered after Sami produced them from the bag and were seized. A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
Police added that the accused will be produced before the court in accordance with the law.
