A man stabbed and injured three people at a train station in the Swiss city of Winterthur on Thursday before police arrested him, authorities said.

The attack took place shortly after 8:30am, according to Zurich regional police.

Police identified the suspect as a 31-year-old Swiss national. Authorities took him into custody and launched an investigation into the motive behind the incident.

The three victims, all Swiss citizens aged 28, 43 and 52, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials have not yet disclosed details about the severity of their injuries.

Winterthur, home to around 123,000 people, lies in northeastern Switzerland near Zurich, the country’s largest city.
