Centuries from Mahidul Islam Ankon and Abdul Majid highlighted the second day of the National Cricket League’s second round, while Mominul Haque and Shakir Hossain Shubhro narrowly missed out on their own hundreds. Rajshahi and Chattogram finished the day in control of their respective matches, with Miraz and Nahidul starring with the ball.
Chattogram vs Barishal – Cox’s Bazar
Mominul Haque resumed on 84 but was dismissed for 92, falling just eight runs short of his 18th first-class century. His 145-ball innings featured 10 boundaries before he was bowled by Barishal pacer Ruel Mia. Chattogram, who had closed the first day on 260 for 4, were bowled out for 358 after adding 98 more runs.
Naeem Hasan made 35 off 76 balls, while Hasan Murad contributed 28 from 57. Captain Tanvir Islam led Barishal’s attack with 4 wickets for 56, as Ruel Mia and Moin Khan took two apiece.
In reply, Barishal lost Iftikhar Hossain Iftee early for 16, but Salman Hossain Emon (47*) and Adil bin Siddique (43) steadied the innings with a 79-run stand. Barishal ended the day on 115 for 2, still 243 runs behind.
Rajshahi vs Khulna – Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla
Rajshahi resumed on 87 for 3 and slipped to 168 for 8 before Shakir Hossain Shubhro’s composed knock of 89 rescued the innings. The right-hander struck six fours and three sixes in his 172-ball effort, adding crucial lower-order stands 62 runs with Ali Mohammad Wahid (24) and 38 with Nahid Rana (0*).
Rajshahi were eventually bowled out for 268, securing a 147-run first-innings lead over Khulna. Both Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nahidul Islam claimed four wickets each.
Khulna’s second innings began poorly when Soumya Sarkar fell for 10 off Nahid Rana’s bowling. However, Anamul Haque Bijoy (27*) and Amit Majumdar (15*) guided their side to 68 for 1 at stumps, trailing by 79 runs.
Dhaka vs Sylhet – Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
In Sylhet, Mahidul Islam Ankon reached a well-crafted century after showing great patience on the opening day. His 122-run innings helped Dhaka Division post 310 against Sylhet. Lower-order batter Suman Khan provided key support with 74.
For Sylhet, pacers Ebadot Hossain and Syed Khaled Ahmed picked up three wickets each. The home side reached 33 without loss by stumps, with Saikat Ali unbeaten on 18 and Zakir Hasan on 15.
Mymensingh vs Rangpur – Mymensingh Academy Ground
Mymensingh built on their strong first day, piling up a commanding total against Rangpur. After Naeem and Mahfizul notched centuries on day one, Abdul Majid continued the onslaught on day two, remaining unbeaten on 119 off 186 balls, hitting 10 fours and 3 sixes.
Shuvagata Hom added 65, while Abu Hider Rony smashed a rapid 60 off 34 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Rangpur’s reply got off to a disastrous start; they finished the day on 18 for 2, still trailing by 537 runs.
