Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested the accused Madrasha teacher from Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday in a case over rape and impregnation of an 11-year old girl in Netrokona.

The suspect, identified as Aman Ullah Sagar, 30, founder of Hazrat Fatema Tuz Zohra Women  Quawmi Madrasha and a teacher of the institution in Madan upazila of Netrakona district.

Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Tariqul Islam confirmed the development, stating that the suspect was handed over to the Netrokona police following a press briefing by RAB in Mymensingh.

According to the case details, the victim is a resident of the same area who lived with her grandmother while studying at the madrasa. Her father has been missing for a long period, and her mother works as a domestic help in Sylhet to support the family.

The incident reportedly occurred on 2 October last year at approximately 3:30 pm. After the madrasa had closed for the day, Aman Ullah Sagar allegedly ordered the child to sweep the veranda of the mosque adjacent to the institution. It is alleged that he then called her into his private room and raped her.

The matter came to light after the victim became pregnant. Upon being questioned by her family, she named the madrasa teacher. The incident sparked widespread public outrage across the country after the child was taken to a doctor and news of her condition circulated on social media.

On 23 April, the victim’s mother filed a case at Madan Police Station against Aman Ullah Sagar under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. RAB successfully arrested the suspect 13 days after the case was lodged.

Suspect’s Defence Prior to his arrest, the accused teacher released a video message on social media denying all allegations. He claimed that he was being framed and that someone else was responsible for the child’s pregnancy.

He stated that he respects the law of the land, adding, “If I am proven guilty in the investigation and medical report, I will accept the punishment prescribed by law”.
