A luxury Rolls-Royce Spectre crashed on the Purbachal 300-feet expressway in Rupganj, Narayanganj on Saturday afternoon, leaving four people, including the owner of Masco Group, critically injured.

The injured have been identified as Abdur Sobur, owner of Masco Group and former chairman of United Commercial Bank (UCB), his wife, their child Tawaz, and another individual. All four are currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara residential area in Vatar.

According to police, the accident occurred when the high-end vehicle, which bore no number plate, lost control on the expressway and collided with a road island. The impact severely damaged the front of the car.

Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Tarikul Islam told Times of Bangladesh that the luxury car’s driver was also among the injured. “Thanks to the airbag system in the vehicle, all passengers survived despite sustaining injuries,” he said.

Police later recovered the vehicle and brought it to the police station.

Sources said the Rolls-Royce Spectre model involved in the accident is worth at least Tk 6 crore.
